What women empowerment really is during pandemic times !?

While there is a lot of opinions and polls going on as the world now face the novel coronavirus pandemic, there is a specific lot which has received very less or meagre attention they are WOMEN. Though from the very beginning we discuss empowering and giving equal rights to them, we only have succeeded are very little that women are still facing threats and are vulnerable in all sections of society.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made the conditions even worse for the female population who are almost 70 per cent of the frontline workers helping people out during these testing times. Reportedly, the cases of domestic violence against women had been peaking since the world was put to work from home. Not accessible to some of the essentials that they as naturally require during work hours and the stress faced both by the homemakers and the working people are so demeaning.

So, here are some of the steps that could be followed other than not just reading and giving advice.

  • Try to share the workload. They are also human beings and are not only entitled to do chores like some machine.
  • Give equal respect and treat them though not as some superior humans but just as your fellow mate. Discuss and share your suggestions before taking any decisions both in the work and inside the household.
  • Governments must pay attention to what is happening to the women and include them in response and recovery decision making.
  • Bailout packages must consider some of the essentials of women like sanitary pads, menstrual cups and the governments must ensure that these are available to them without any hurdles at a cheaper cost.
  • Sanctioning of an immediate response team in all the districts in case of any emergencies faced by them and strengthening the law enforcement.

This is a great opportunity to break the stereotypes on women’s gender plight and join together and get past this pandemic, evolving together as a beautiful society to the future which is brighter, equal and sustainable.
